Latest News - Updated Monday 18th September 2017

Please be aware that the landline number I (Pete Rickwood) use for all club activities (ending in 971) is currently unavailable so if you need to contact me by telephone please use my mobile number (ending in 855).  I have updated the committee page and the downloadable committee contacts sheet to reflect this. The landline number will hopefully be restored, or an alternative provided, in due course when further details will be provided here.

Our next Sunday walk will take place on 1st October 2017 and will see us again walking from the Barley Mow in St Neots, Cambridgeshire. As always the walk will start around 10.00 and the walk desk will not open before 09.30 so please do not arrive before then as neither the walk organiser nor the venue will be ready for you - and the venue might have had a busy night on the Saturday so a little consideration for them would be appreciated. Give yourself an extra half hour in bed instead - you know it makes sense.

Further to the above please be aware that there is no parking at the pub. However parking is available free of charge at the Riverside Car Park approximately 300m on the other side of the roundabout. There is a wide variety of bar snacks available on the day, meals must be ordered before the event on 01480 474435 or through their website at barleystneots.co.uk. Toilets will be available from 9.30am onwards.

After having to cancel the annual pilgrimage to Belgium in 2017 to participate in the Clermont Walking Festival due to non-availability of Ferries I am pleased to confirm that the club will be participating again in 2018. For your diaries, the dates are Friday 9th Feb 2018 (leaving Castle Way in Wellingborough around 19.00) returning to Wellingborough by mid evening on Monday 12th February 2018. More details and a downloadable registration form will be provided in the events section of this site in due course.

If you would like to get more involved in your club, we are always looking for additional walk co-ordinators - there are just seven of us on the committee and almost 40 walking events every year - and whilst most committee members will organise and run up to three events each year we still need non-committee members to organise the occasional event, and we are already planning our 2018 season of events! If you have never organised a walk before, one of us will "buddy up" with you to help plan and run the event and we have a comprehensive "beginners guide" covering everything from choosing your venue through to details of the administration and what makes a good walk description. Why not give it a go - you'll enjoy it. If you would like a no obligation chat about what is involved please contact me through the website and I will call you back.

Lapel Badges. Club lapel badges are now available from Andrew Whitehead or through this website or the Facebook page. They will also be available at walk desks and will cost £3. Please buy one and wear it on your lapel to support your club.  Of course Andrew can provide other club branded merchandise as well such as polo shirts, sweat shirts, fleeces and baseball caps. See the Club Merchandise section of this site for prices and availability.
